In Memory of Eli Korol
Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 6:47PM On their way to Yosemite National Park on June 16, a truck accident led to the passing of Eli Korol the following Monday in a coma from severe brain trauma. A real mensch at 14-years-old, he had the heart of an engineer and a true love of science. As one friend wrote, he "could have been the person to cure cancer." In a modest attempt to empower his legacy, we are requesting donations be made in his memory to our chosen charity, the Union of Concerned Scientists.
The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is the leading science-based nonprofit working for a healthy environment and a safer world. UCS combines independent scientific research and citizen action to develop innovative, practical solutions and to secure responsible changes in government policy, corporate practices, and consumer choices. What began as a collaboration between students and faculty members at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1969 is now an alliance of more than 250,000 citizens and scientists. UCS members are people from all walks of life: parents and businesspeople, biologists and physicists, teachers and students. Our achievements over the decades show that thoughtful action based on the best available science can help safeguard our future and the future of our planet.
Please make donations in the memory of Eli Korol, and send notifications to Evgeny Korol, 16323 Avenida Suavidad, San Diego, CA 92128.
